The Peer Wellness Project provides peer to peer support for individuals that are interested in having more health in their life. This includes providing people with scholarships to the gym as well as peer wellness coaches that provide support and encouragement.We also have classes here on location at project A.B.L.E. 3 nights a week we have exercise classes and yoga twice a week. We have educational classes that are of many different topics, from sugar on the brain to stress reduction, to breathing exercises. For health education we have 3-4 classes a week that individuals at Project A.B.L.E. can join in on, as well as having one on one coaching. The Peer Wellness Project is all about motivation, learning and wellness tools.We provide the essential motivation for a better life experience. Being able to practice at your hearts desire with caring and understanding makes health an enjoyable experience.
The Peer Wellness Project uses Peer Coaches as allies on the road to recovery and personal health. Peer Coaches provide encouragement and support to help individuals recognize that the active pursuit of personal health can be fun and empowering.
WELL Coaches partner with individuals to identify and create a self-directed HOPE plan ©(Healthy Opportunities through Peer Empowerment) that identifies desired goals for health and wellness.
HOPE plans may include activities such as:
- Walking, Jogging,Weight Lifting
- Swimming, Yoga, Sports
- Smoking cessation and/or Health & Nutritional Classes
- Art, Cooking or Personal Interest Classes
- Assist individuals in identifying goals to maximize their health in body, mind and spirit
- Encourage & monitor progress toward reaching goals
- Seek and share information about wellness activities
