The Medication Empowerment program is designed to facilitate communication with physicians and nurse practitioners. This training is about how to talk to your doctor about your medications, what is working, what is not, and what you would like to see changed. An example of this would be someone who is newly diagnosed with a mental illness and is thrown into this new world of medications, doctors visits and lots of other new information. When you start on this journey everything is new and you don’t know what works for you and what doesn’t. With Project A.B.L.E.’s medication empowerment program we will assist in making sure that you know what the medications do, the side effects, and how to let your doctor know when something isn’t working for you.
Medication Empowerment provides individuals with the Education Component that:
- Empowers consumers to take an active role in their medication regime
- Educates and informs consumers of their rights and responsibilities in the prescribing process
- Equips consumers with the communication skills that enables them to be active partners with their Prescribers.
- Trains consumers to make informed choices about medications
